Bununla birlikte, bu prog- ramların nitelik ve niceliklerine ilişkin YÖK’ün sunduğu resmi bir veri bulunmamaktadır. Ayrıca, psikolojinin popüla- ritesi üniversiteleri sürekli olarak yüksek lisans veya doktora programları açmaya yöneltirken, bu programların lisan- süstü program açılması için YÖK tarafından belirtilen kriterleri ne derecede sağladığı bilinmemektedir. Bu nedenle, bu çalışmada Türkiye’deki psikoloji lisansüstü programlarının sayısının, psikoloji alanlarının mevcut programlar içindeki dağılımının ve psikoloji lisansüstü programlarında yer alan öğretim elemanlarının doktora, tıpta uzmanlık veya doçentlik alanlarının ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, YÖKAKADEMİK veri tabanı ve ilgili programların internet sayfaları kullanılarak Ocak-Nisan 2021 tarihleri arasında oluşturulan veri seti incelenmiş, Türkiye’de psikoloji alt alanlarında yürütülen yüksek lisans ve doktora programları ve bu programlardaki akademisyen- lerin doktora, tıpta uzmanlık veya doçentlik alanları hakkında detaylı bilgiler elde edilmiştir. Toplam 34 üniversitede 86 yüksek lisans, 16 üniversitede 42 doktora programında eğitim, psikoloji alanında doktorası veya doçentlik derecesi olan öğretim üyeleri tarafından verilmektedir. Buna karşın, YÖK tarafından belirlenmiş resmi gerekliliklerin aksine, toplam 44 üniversitenin 92 yüksek lisans programında ve 18 üniversitenin 19 doktora programında ilgili alanda doktorası veya do- çentlik derecesi olmayan öğretim üyeleri tarafından eğitim-öğretim verildiği bulunmuştur. Bu öğretim üyeleri psikiyatri (f = 78), adli bilimler (f = 18) veya psikolojik danışma ve rehberlik (f = 16) gibi alanlarda doktoralarını tamamlamışlardır. Ayrıca, akademik kadrosunda psikoloji derecesi olan öğretim üyesi bulunmayan çeşitli bölümler tarafından da psikoloji lisansüstü programları açılmıştır. YÖK lisansüstü eğitim-öğretime ilişkin kural ve yönetmelikler belirlemesine rağmen, bunların her kurumda uygulanmadığı görülmektedir. However, CoHE does not have official data regarding the quality and quantity of graduate programs in psychology in Türkiye. Furthermore, while the popularity of psychology leads universities to open master’s or doctoral programs continuously, it is not known how well the programs meet the criteria determined by CoHE for opening graduate programs. Therefore, this study aims to examine in detail the number of psychology graduate programs in Turkey, the distribution of psychology fields within the existing programs, and the doctoral, medical specialty or associate professorship fields of the academic staff in psychology gra- duate programs. For this purpose, the dataset created between January-April 2021 using the YÖKAKADEMİK database and related programs’ web-page information was examined, and detailed information was obtained about the master’s and doctoral programs in psychology subfields in Türkiye and the doctoral, medical specialty or associate professorship fields of academics in these programs. Contrary to the formal requirements enforced by the Council of Higher Education, in 92 master’s programs of 44 universities, and in 19 doctoral programs of 18 universities, education was given by faculty members who did not have a doctorate or associate professorship degree in the relevant field. These faculty members have doctoral degrees in fields such as psychiatry (f = 78), forensic science (f = 18), or psychological counseling \u0026 guidance (f = 16). Additionally, psychology graduate programs were opened by various departments whose faculty did not have degrees in psychology. It is evident that although the Council of Higher Education determines rules and regulations re- garding graduate education, they are not applied to every institution.
