Yenidoğan yoğun bakım ünitelerinde hastane enfeksiyonlarını önleme çalışmaları

Öz:
Hastane kaynaklı enfeksiyonlar Yenidoğan Yoğun Bakım Ünitelerinde (YYBÜ) mortalite ve morbiditeye neden olan önlenebilir etkenlerdendir. Doğum ağırlığı, gebelik haftası, hastalığın şiddeti, hastanede kalış süresi ve invaziv girişimler bilinen risk faktörleridir. Enfeksiyonlar hastanede kalış süresinin uzamasına ve sağlık harcamalarının artışına yol açar. Medikal teknolojide ilerlemeler çok düşük doğum ağırlıklı bebeklerin mortalitesinde iyileşmeye yol açtığından sağlık çalışanları YYBÜ’lerindeki hastane kaynaklı enfeksiyonları azaltacak önlemleri tanımlamaya çalışmaktadır. Bu stratejiler; el hijyeni uygulamaları, santral venöz katater kaynaklı kan akımı enfeksiyonlarının önlenmesi, tedavide ve proşakside akılcı antibiyotik kullanımı, konakçının immun sisteminin geliştirilmesi, cilt bakımı ve erken anne sütü ile beslenme konularını içermektedir.

Prevention studies of hospital-acquired infections in neonatal intensive care units

Öz:
Hospital-acquired infections are one of the leading causes of preventable morbidity and mortality in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).Known risk factors include birth weight, gestational age, severity of illness, length of stay, and invasive procedures. Infections resultin prolonged hospital stays and, consequently, increased hospital costs. As advances in medical technology improve mortality in thevery low birth weight (VLBW) infants, it is imperative that health care providers identify effective interventions to minimize the risks ofhospital-acquired infections in the NICU. Several strategies are available and include: hand hygiene practices, prevention of central venouscatheter-related bloodstream infections, judicious use of antimicrobials for therapy and prophylaxis, enhancement of host defences, skincare and early enteral feeding with human milk.
