TY - JOUR TI - LGBT People’s Experiences of Stigmatization: A Phenomenologic Study AB - This study is an in-depth analysis of LGBT people’s experiences of stigmatization, phenomenological qualitative study. LGBT people were contacted using snowball sampling. Data from 33 participants were collected in face-to-face in-depth interviews using the phenomenological interview technique and semi-structured questionnaires. Content analysis of the participants’ experiences of stigmatization identified three themes and four subthemes: 'being LGBT; otherness', 'pretending: lifein the closet', 'self stigmatization':'Feeling like a problem that needs to be solved'. LGBT people experience intense stigmatization,are subjected to violence and beeing perceived sick, perver or dangerious.LGBT people experience self-stigma.LGBT people are pretended not to be other and live secret life.This study determined that the participants who suffered from family and society were subjected to stigmatizationor they internalized this stigma and they peretended and live secret life.
