Medicine usage in pediatric dentistry

Öz:
The medicines which are used for prophylaxis and the treatment in dentistry require a great deal of knowledge and experience. Using these medicines is a more critical issue in children than adults due to the different physiology and anatomy of the child patients. Commonly used medicines in pediatric dentistry are antimicrobials (antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals), analgesics, antiinflammatory drugs, sedatives and local anesthetics. On the other hand, following the use of some of the medicines prescribed for children, oral symptoms may develop. This literature review covers the medicines that are used in pediatric dentistry and their oral symptoms.
