Spontaneous pneumomediastinum related to COVID-19 pneumonia

Öz:
As the researches on COVID-19 increases, knowledge about the disease and its complications is increasing day by day. Pneumomediastinum is one of these complications. In this article, it was aimed to present a 23-year-old case of COVID-19 pneumonia complicated with pneumoediastinum and discharged with medical treatment. In case reports published so far, cases in advanced age, with comorbidities, with need of respiratory support with a mechanical ventilator were recorded in the literature. Interestingly, unlike other cases, our patient did not have a predisposing factor such as a mechanical ventilator, positive airway pressure, trauma, and bronchial asthma, which would lead to spontaneous pneumomediastinum. It should be noted that pneumomediastinum may develope in COVID-19 pneumonia cases with chest pain.
