TY - JOUR TI - Family Accounts on Instagram in the Context of Privacy and Conspicuous Consumption AB - Instagram, is used for different purposes such as promoting oneself, establishing an identity, getting likes, increasing the number of followers, being accepted in the society, displaying what is consumed through images such as photos and videos. In such channels, information about daily life related to family life is shared by many users. Private life is disclosed in the posts by will and the posts go beyond their purpose and cause privacy violations. In this study, family accounts that share information about their daily lives have been examined. In the study, family accounts with the highest number of followers were determined, they were selected within the framework of purposeful sampling, and the sample was limited to those who did not state a profession in their profile information. In this respect, four accounts constituted the subject of the study, and their shares were examined with qualitative content analysis. It has been concluded that privacy is violated in the posts, the content for conspicuous consumption and pretentious religiosity is included, and the consumption practices of women wearing hijab are related to fashion in the analyzed accounts.
