İNGİLİZ BAROĞU: LONDRA ST. PAUL KATEDRALİ’NİN CEPHE TASARIMI
Öz: XVI. yüzyılda Roma Kilisesi Rönesans Hümanizmi ve Proteston reformu karşısında kaybettiği itibarını geri kazanmak amacıyla Karşı Reform ya da Katolik Reform olarak değerlendirilebilecek hareketi geliştirmiştir. Bu hareketin sanata yansıması sonraları “Barok” ismi ile anılmaya başlamıştır. “Barok” kelimesi, Portekizce “Barucca” sözünden gelmektedir. Bu isim Portekizce’de garip biçimli, eğri büğrü incilere verilmektedir. İtalya’da doğan bu üslubun diğer Avrupa ülkelerine de yayıldığı görülmektedir. İngilizler Barok üslubu diğer üsluplara göre daha az benimsemiştir. Bu çalışmada İngiltere’nin başkenti Londra’da Barok üslupta inşa edilmiş ilk kilise olan St. Paul Kilisesi’nin cephe tasarımları üzerinden İngiltere’de Barok üslubun cephelerde ne şekilde değerlendirildiği irdelenmiştir. İngiliz Barok mimarisinde cephe tasarımlarının diğer ülkelerdeki örneklerden farklılıkları tespit edilmiştir ve farklılıkların ortaya çıkışında etkili olan faktörler değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Elde edilen bu çalışmayla Türkiye’de Avrupa mimarisi ve Batılılaşma dönemi Osmanlı mimarisi çalışmalarını desteklemek amaçlanmıştır.

Öz: In the 16th century, the Roman Church developed the movement that can be considered as the Counter-Reformation or the Catholic Reformation in order to regain its lost reputation in the face of Renaissance Humanism and the Protestant reform. The reflection of this movement on art began to be known as "Baroque". The word "Baroque" comes from the Portuguese word "Barucca". This name is given to oddly shaped, crooked pearls in Portuguese. It is seen that this style, which was born in Italy, spread to other European countries. The British adopted the Baroque style less than other styles. In this study, it was examined how the Baroque style was evaluated on the facades in England through the facade designs of St. Paul's Church, which is the first church built in the Baroque style in the capital of England, London. The differences between the facade designs in British Baroque architecture and the examples in other countries were determined and the factors that were effective in the emergence of the differences were tried to be evaluated. With this study, it is aimed to support the studies of European architecture and Ottoman architecture of the Westernization period in Turkey.
