The Relationship between Social Work Students' Optimism Tendencies and Life Satisfaction

Öz:
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between optimism tendencies and life satisfaction of social work students and to reveal the predictive power of optimism for life satisfaction. The quantitative research method was used in the study. In the study, a questionnaire form was created that includes the students' socio-demographic characteristics and consists of questions that can affect their optimism levels and life satisfaction. In addition, the Life Orientation Scale and the Life Satisfaction Scale were used. The sample size in the study is 400 students according to 95% of their confidence level. Obtained data were analyzed with the IBM SPSS22 program. As a result of the analysis, it is seen that optimism tendency predicts life satisfaction in university students. As the level of optimism increases among students, life satisfaction also increases significantly. In the study, the level of optimism among university students was considered to be slightly high and life satisfaction slightly low. The findings of this study provide ideas for future studies that can help practitioners and researchers to improve life satisfaction in mental health studies.
