Retinal Manifestations in Patients with Myeloproliferative Disorders

Öz:
Ocular involvement in myeloproliferative diseases (MPD) is common and retinal findings are various. Retinal manifestations are due to hematologic changes, microcirculatory alterations, and hyperviscosity of blood. Ocular findings might precede the diagnosis of MPD and might regress following treatment for MPD. Therefore, in cases with atypical retinal findings refractory to treatment, MPD must be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis. The early diagnosis of the underlying disease and its appropriate treatment will affect morbidity and mortality in these patients. Retinal findings might also be asymptomatic in patients with MPD. Patients with MPD must, therefore, have regular ocular examinations in follow-up.
