Equivalence Ratio Effect on Helium Diluted Methane Jet Flame Temperature and Pollutant Emission for a Swirl Assisted Gas Turbine Burner

Temperature distribution and flue gas emissions in gas turbine combustion chambers have attracted the attention of researchers in recent years. In this study, the combustion chamber temperature distribution and flue gas emission values at different equivalence ratios were determined by diluting the methane flame with Helium at the rate of 20% by volume. A swirl generator which has high swirl number (1.6) was placed at the burner outlet and the combustor power was kept constant at 3 kW. In this way, the equivalence effect in a swirled combustion was investigated. The following results emerged in the study, in which 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.1 values were tested as the equivalence ratio. The results showed that with the increase of the equivalence ratio, the flame temperature and brightness at the burner outlet increased, reaching its maximum at 0.9 equivalence ratio. After this critical value, there was a tendency to decrease in temperature and luminous intensity again. As the distance from the burner axially in the combustion chamber increased, the average temperatures increased with the increase in the equivalence ratio. On the other hand, The CO value in flue gas emissions decrease by half as the equivalency ratio increased from 0.7 to 1.0.

Girdap Destekli Bir Gaz Türbin Yakıcısında Eşdeğerlik Oranının Helyumla Seyreltilmiş Metan Jet Alevinin Sıcaklık ve Kirletici Emisyonu Üzerindeki Etkisi

Gaz türbin yanma odalarında sıcaklık dağılımı ve yanma sonu emisyonları son yıllarda araştırmacıların dikkatini çeken bir konu olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada metan alevi hacimsel %20 oranında Helyum ile seyreltilerek farklı eşdeğerlik oranlarındaki yanma odası sıcaklık dağılımı ve baca gazı emisyon değerleri tespit edilmiştir. Yakıcı çıkışına yüksek girdap sayılı (1.6) bir girdap üreteci yerleştirilmiş ve yakıcı güç 3 kW olarak sabit tutulmuştur. Bu sayede girdaplı bir yanmadaki eşdeğerlik etkisi incelenmiştir. Eşdeğerlik oranı olarak 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.1 değerlerinin test edildiği çalışmada şu sonuçlar ortaya çıkmıştır. Eşdeğerlik oranında yaşanan artışla beraber özellikle 0.9 eşdeğerlik oranına kadar yakıcı çıkışındaki alev sıcaklığı ve parlaklığı artmıştır. Bu kritik değerden sonra ise sıcaklıkta ve parlaklıkta tekrar düşme eğilimi görülmüştür. Yanma odası içerisinde eksenel olarak yakıcıdan uzaklaşıldıkça eşdeğerlik oranı artışı ile beraber ortalama sıcaklıklar artış göstermiştir. Diğer taraftan baca gazı emisyonlarında CO değeri 0.7’den 1.0 eşdeğerlik oranına artırıldıkça yarı yarıya düşüş göstermiştir.
