A Literature Review on Property Rights Economics

Öz:
The issue of property rights within the institutional structure is gaining increasing importance for personal welfare and economic development. However, there are significant barriers remaining before obtaining legal and official property rights in many countries. Do property rights have any impact on a country’s ability to achieve economic development? So far it is unknown how well the current researches respond to this emerging need. This leads to an increased need for researches on property rights. Therefore, this study reveals how research on property rights has evolved in the literature and identifies current trends. The results show that research on property rights is a rapidly growing area , however there is a need to develop coherent empirical studies to strengthen the theoretical foundation of research. The majority of researches clearly shows that countries with property rights secured and a proper institutional environment achieve higher levels in various measures of human well-being.
