Turizmin Dönüştürücü Gücü: Airbnb Deneyimi

Öz:
Bu araştırmanın amacı, ev paylaşım sürecinde ev sahibi-misafir ve misafirlerin kendi aralarında oluşan karşılıklı ilişkilerin Airbnb kullanıcılarında bıraktığı etkileri ve bu deneyimin dönüştürücü gücünü anlamaya çalışmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda araştırma, nitel yöntemle tasarlanmış, hem yurtiçi hem de yurtdışında Airbnb platformunu kullanarak konaklayan 20 kişi ile görüşme yapılmıştır. Görüşmeler hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak yüzyüze ve çevrimiçi şekilde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ocak 2021-Nisan 2021 tarihleri arasında yapılan görüşmeler içerik analizi ile incelenmiştir. Görüşmeler neticesinde katılımcıların; ucuzluk, yerel tavsiye alma, yerel kültürü yaşama, ev sıcaklığı, merkezi konumdan faydalanma gibi nedenlerle Airbnb’yi tercih ettiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca ev sahibi-misafir arasında gerçekleşen hizmet sunumunun kişiselleştirilmiş olması da misafirler için tercih sebebidir. Airbnb konaklamalarında farklı birçok kişiyle aynı ortamı paylaşmanın ve etkileşim halinde olmanın katılımcılar için farklılıkları kabul etme ve kendine güven duygusunun gelişimi noktasında dönüştürücü bir deneyim olduğu da araştırmadan elde edilen diğer sonuçlardandır.

The Transformative Power of Tourism: Airbnb Experience

Öz:
The purpose of this research is to understand the transformative power of Airbnb experience and the effects of the mutual relationships between the host-guest and the guests in the home sharing process on Airbnb users. In line with this purpose, the research was designed with a qualitative method and 20 people who stayed on the Airbnb platform both in Turkey and abroad were interviewed. Interviews were conducted face-to-face and online using a semi-structured interview form. The interviews conducted between January 2021 and April 2021 were analyzed through thematic analysis. As a result of the interviews, it was concluded that the participants preferred Airbnb for reasons such as cheapness, getting local advice, experiencing local culture, home warmth, and benefiting from the central location. In addition, the personalized service delivery between the host and the guest is also preferred by the guests. Another result of the research is that sharing the same environment and interacting with many different people during Airbnb stays is a transformative experience for the participants in terms of accepting differences and developing a sense of self-confidence.
