Bu deney gruplarının yarısına paket ilk açıldığı an silika jel yerleş- tirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada incelenen fiziksel parametre push-out bağlanma dayanımı, kimyasal parametre ise X-Işını Kırınım (XRD) analizidir. Verilerin istatistiksel analizinde SPSS 23 prog- ramı kullanılmıştır. BULGULAR: Grupların push-out bağlanma dayanımı de- ğerleri birbirinden anlamlı derecede farklı bulunmuştur.

The Effect of Silica Gel Addition on Selected Properties of ProRoot Mineral Trioxide Aggregate

Öz:
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the changes in physical and chemical properties of Mineral Trioxide Aggre- gate (MTA) when it interacts with atmospheric moisture. Materials and Method: ProRoot MTA packages containing 0.5 gram of white MTA were investigated. Fresh ProRoot MTA packages were served as the control group. MTA packages which were left open for 10 seconds were capped back and left for a month or MTA packages which were left open for 10 seconds once in every 15 day were capped back and investi- gated at the end of a month in the experimental groups. Half of these experimental groups featured a silica gel as a desic- cant once the package was opened. Push-out bond strength and chemical characterlzation of both control and experimen- tal groups were analyzed. Results: The push-out bond strength values of the groups were significantly different from each other. PS1 group was significantly higher than the P1 and P2 groups (p = 0.036 <0.05, p = 0.014 <0.05). No significant differen- ces were found between the groups in the XRD analysis. Conclusion: The push-out bond strength of MTA in ope- ned packages were adversely affected. This showed that the material was affected by the athmospheric moisture. Considering the fact that the silica gel did not interfere with the elemental analysis of the material, the addition of silica gel into the MTA packages might be recommended to extend its shelf-life.
