Considering that millions of people gathered and listened at the same time, the importance of Friday sermons becomes more apparent. It is clear that the choice of topic and the discourses made in the Friday sermon play an important role in achieving its purpose. In this study, 451 Friday Sermons, published between January 2014 and July 2022 and addressed financial transactions and commercial life, have been analyzed. Frequency analyses of the words interest, trade, shopping, debit-credit relationship, tax, bribery, theft, cheating, and consumption, which are thought to explain the financial situation and commercial life more, have been made over the years and the discourses in the Friday sermons have been examined. In light of the findings, it was determined that the words interest, trade, shopping, debit-credit relationship, tax, bribery, theft, cheating, and consumption were used 96 times in 61 different sermons in total, and these words were mostly used in 2018 and 2019. These concepts were used 42 times in total in these two years, corresponding to almost half (44%) of all analyzed years. In relation to the words mentioned in the khutbah, the most stated terms were commerce 22 times, shopping 14 times, and consumption and cheating 13 times, whereas the least mentioned ones were bribery and tax. Quite surprisingly, the term of interest, which is one of the major prohibitions in the Islamic order, was mentioned 10 times, just between 2017--2020, in all the analyzed years. Further, in only three of these sermons the main subject was interest. Similarly, it has been determined that only two of the 451 sermons briefly mention tax awareness and tax evasion. In order to increase the sensitivity of society to taxation, the necessity of giving more space to the sermons to be published on this issue has emerged. Although it was determined that the concepts of financial situation and commercial life were mentioned more in some years in Friday sermons, it was seen that they were not mentioned enough in general.
