OVERCONFIDENCE AND MEASUREMENT METHODS: LITERATURE REVIEW

Öz:
Overconfidence refers to the judgment of individuals to see themselves better than they are. Overconfidence has different dimensions, such as overestimation, overplacement, and overprecision, and there are alternative measurement methods for each dimension. This study was conducted to investigate what the different overconfidence dimensions meant, how data should be collected to measure each one, and how overconfidence was calculated using these data and to analyze studies in the literature related to each dimension. Thus, it was aimed to contribute to the prevention of problems, such as lack of knowledge about what the overconfidence measurement reported in the literature represented, arbitrary determination of the measurements, and methodological errors in the measurements of overconfidence in studies.
