AN EMPIRICAL LOOK FROM MASLOW'S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS THEORY TO RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORK-LIFE BALANCE AND OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY

Öz:
In this reseach, it is aimed to examine the effect of job security on the concept of work-life balance, which envisages a balance between an individual's work and social life outside of work. In this direction, a model was created that determines the relationship between occupational safety and work-life balance. This reseach investigated the potential relationship between the mentioned variables. In order to collect data from participants who is working in various public institutions and local governments in Şanlıurfa, Turkey. A questionnaire consisting of occupational safety scale, work-life balance scale and demographic questions was created. The survey was conducted among 452 participants selected by snowball sampling. The number of valid questionnaires returned is 401, and the response rate is 89%. In the light of statistical analysis, it was determined that occupational safety in organizations predicted positively the work-life balance of employees. In the research, it was determined that occupational safety positively predicted the safety as (β= 0.19; p<0.001). In addition with the model created, 21% of the occupational safety, 29% of the work interference with personal life and 41% of the positive effect of the job on the life were explained. The importance of the factors mentioned in this context is hidden with strong relationship between the occupational safety of the employees and the work-life balance.

MASLOW'UN İHTİYAÇLAR HİYERARŞİSİ TEORİSİNDEN İŞYAŞAM DENGESİ VE İŞ GÜVENLİĞİ ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİYE AMPİRİK BİR BAKIŞ

Öz:
Bu çalışmada, bireyin işi ile iş dışındaki sosyal yaşamı arasında dengeyi öngören iş yaşam dengesi kavramına iş güvenliğinin etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda iş güvenliği ve iş-yaşam dengesi arasındaki ilişkiyi belirleyen bir model oluşturularak belirtilen değişkenler arasındaki potansiyel ilişki araştırılmıştır. Türkiye/ Şanlıurfa’da çeşitli kamu kurumu ve yerel yönetimlerdeki çalışan katılımcılardan veri toplamak için iş güvenliği ölçeği, iş- yaşam dengesi ölçeği ve demografik sorulardan oluşan bir anket oluşturulmuştur. Anket, kartopu örneklem yoluyla seçilen 452 katılımcı arasında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Geri dönen geçerli anket sayısı 401 geri dönüş oranı %89'dur. İstatistiksel analizler neticesinde, organizasyonlardaki iş güvenliğinin çalışanların işyaşam dengesini pozitif yönde yordadığı belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada iş güvenliğinin işin yaşama olumlu etkisini pozitif yönde yordadığı belirlenmiştir (β= 0,19; p<0,001).Ayrıca, oluşturulan model ile iş güvenliğinin %21’i, işin yaşama olumsuz etkisinin %29’u ve işin yaşama olumlu etkisinin %41’i açıklanmıştır. Bu kapsamda belirtilen faktörlerin önemi çalışanların iş güvenliği ve iş- yaşam dengesi arasındaki güçlü ilişkide gizlidir.
