A case report of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome associated with severe neurologic dysfunction
Öz: Geri dönüşümlü posterior lökoensefalopati sendromu (GPLS) baş ağrısı, mental fonksiyon bozukluğu, nöbet, görme kaybı ve esas olarak posterior beyaz madde değişiklikleri ile karakterize klinik ve radiolojik bir tablodur. Altta yatan neden erken dönemde tedavi edilebilirse nörolojik sekel kalmadan tam bir düzelme sağlanabilir ki bu nedenle de erken tanı hayati önem taşır. Biz, akut renal yetmezlik ve hipertansiyon sonucu GPLS gelişen ağır nörolojik tablonun eşlik ettiği bir hasta sunduk. Klinik bulgular ve radiolojik anomaliler kan basıncının kontrol altına alınması ile tamamen düzeldi. Bu vaka ile GPLS için erken tanı ve etkili tedavinin önemini vurgulamak istedik.

Öz: Reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome (RPLS) is a distinctive clinicoradiologic entity characterized by headache, altered mental function, seizures, loss of vision and predominantly posterior white matter changes on neuroimaging. Because of the reversibility of the signs without neurological sequel can be possible, if the underlying cause is solved promptly, the early diagnosis has crucial importance. We describe a patient with severe neurological dysfunction who developed RPLS secondary to acute renal failure and hypertension. The clinical findings and radiological abnormalities resolved completely with controlling of the blood pressure. With this case study, we anticipate in illustrating RPLS with an emphasis on the importance of the early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
