DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT

Öz:
Digital transformation, one of the important elements of modern management practices, has played an important role in the transformation of various sectors such as education, health, private and public. Digital transformation due to developments in technology has caused strategic changes in the sports sector, as in every field. In this context, the research aims to examine the reflections of digital transformation in sports management. The sports sector stands out as a sector where innovations are demanded and tradition begins to fade into the background. For this reason, making updates about digitalization in sports management, materials, equipment, working conditions, facilities and the game itself should be renewed in line with technological developments. The areas that digitalization has affected in sports management are digital human resources management, the interaction of sports fans, data analytics, e-sports, ticketing and sales, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), content creation, sponsorship and partnership, data privacy, and security. These can be summarized with topics such as gamification, developing technologies, etc. These issues are examined in detail within the framework of digital transformation in the field of sports management science. In this age where it is not possible to stand in the way of development, it is possible to make progress in sports management by taking advantage of these innovations. Therefore, it is thought that this study will create a new perspective for researchers and practitioners working in the field. In this review article, it has been seen that there are many different perspectives including digital transformation in sports management, and it is suggested that a curriculum system compatible with technological developments should be developed in the education of new-generation sports managers and that existing managers in the sector should also educate themselves from this perspective.
