Infantile hepatic hemangioendothelioma (IHH) is a benign vascular tumor of infancy and early adolescence. Most cases present in the first 6 months. We aimed to introduce our case following the opinion that clinically the formation of such serious complications as liver rupture, heart failure, jaundice, consumptive coagulopathy and liver masses of infancy age should be taken into consideration in the differential diagnosis. Our case, a four day old baby girl, was admitted to Harran University Faculty of Medicine, Child Surgery Clinic with the complaints of abdominal distention and jaundice. On USG, color Doppler USG and CT scanning, a mass was seen in the right lobe posterior of the liver. The mass was totally removed through right lobectomy. On the gross examination of the material, was found a neoplastic tissue of 7,5x5 cm, having no capsule but bleeding and necrotic changes in the center. On microscopic examination, the lesion was composed of small vessel structures lined by plumper endothelial cellsandnormalappearancebileducts. Extramedullary hematopoesis and thrombus were seen in some of the vessels. The endothelial cells were stained with Factor VIII, CD31 and CD34 on immunohistochemical examination. The case was regarded as IHH on account of these findings. Most commonly seen in the first six months of life and likely to cause serious complications, this neoplasm needs to be taken into consideration in the differential diagnosis of the liver tumors of the infancy age.
