Turkish translation and adaptation of foot function ındex in patients with plantar fasciitis

Öz:
Objective: The aim of this study was to translate the Foot Function Indexinto Turkish and perform its cross-cultural adaptation. Material and Methods: The cross-cultural adaptation of the FootFunction Index was performed according to the recommendations of theInternational Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research(ISPOR) guideline, which consists of translation, back translation, harmonization, pilot testing, review of results, corrections, and fnalreport steps, respectively. A pilot test was carried out with 20 patientswho had plantar fasciitis. Results: The cross-cultural adaptation was performed according to therequired steps, and after the harmonization step, the consensus versionof the index was applied to the pilot group. Generally, the translation wasclear and understandable for patients with plantar fasciitis. We modifedand added minor explanations in the information part and for questions7, 8, and 9 for pain, 3 and 8 for disability, and 2, 4, and 5 for activitylimitation to make the Foot Function Index appropriate for use in Turkish- speaking patients. Eventually, the fnal version of the index was preparedaccording to the target population to perform reliability and validity. Conclusion: It was considered that the successfully translated andadapted Turkish version of the Foot Function Index provides anassessment for pain, disability, and activity limitation for foot diseasesand encourages further research.
