Epilepsili olgularda psikososyal problemlerin WPSI (Washington Psychosocial Seizure Inventory) ile incelenmesi
Öz: Amaç: Bu çalışmada epilepsili hastalarda yaşam kalitesi profili WPSI (Washington Psychosocial Seizure Inventory) ile değerlendirildi. Hastalar ve Yöntemler: Poliklinikte izlenen epilepsili 51 erişkin hastaya (24 erkek, 27 kadın;ort. yaş 24; dağılım 1454) WPSI uygulandı. On hasta, güvenilirliği sınayan yalan ve nadir verilen yanıtlar ölçeklerinde elde edilen yüksek skorlar nedeniyle değerlendirme dışında bırakıldı. Hastaların nöbetleri ILAE önerilerine göre sınıflandırıldı; yaşam kalitesini etkileyen psikososyal sorunlar değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Sonuçlar, erkek hastaların, kadınlara göre nöbetlere daha iyi uyum gösterdiğini ortaya koydu. Tüm hastalar için en iyi sonuçlar tedaviye uyumda elde edildi. Hiçbir ölçekte, hastalığından dolayı ciddi psikososyal problem yaşayan kişi görülmedi. Hastaların eğitim durumu yükseldikçe, psikososyal sorunlara yol açan konulara uyumlarının da arttığı görüldü. Nöbet tipinin yaşam kalitesini etkilemediği gözlendi. Sonuç: Ülkemizde epilepsili hastaların yaşadıkları psikososyal sorunların tanınması, düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve çözümünde uygulanacak eğitim programlarında WPSI gibi yöntemlere gerek duyulmaktadır.

Evaluation of psychosocial problems of patients with epilepsy by means of the Washington Psychosocial Seizure Inventory
Öz: Objectives: We evaluated the quality of life profile of epileptic patients with the use of the Washington Psychosocial Seizure Inventory (WPSI). Patients and Methods: We administered the WPSI to 51 adult epileptic outpatients (24 males, 27 females; mean age 24 years; range 14 to 54 years). Ten patients were excluded because of relatively high scores from validity scales on lie and rare items. Seizures were classified according to the ILAE recommendations. Psychosocial problems affecting the quality of life of epileptic patients were assessed. Results: Male patients showed better adaptation to seizures than did female patients. The highest patient compliance was observed in adaptation to medicine and medical management. No severe psychosocial difficulty was observed on the WPSI scales. The higher education status the patients had, the more adaptation to psychosocial difficulty causing items was observed. The types of seizures did not affect the overall quality of life. Conclusion: In order to understand and improve the level of psychosocial problems of epileptic patients in Turkey, instruments such as the WPSI should be incorporated into appropriate rehabilitation programmes.
