The compliance Rates of Hand Hygiene in Intensive care Unit and Surgical Services at a State Hospital in Turkey

Öz:

Amaç: Sağlık hizmetleri ile ilişkilienfeksiyonların korunmasında en etkili vemaliyet olarak en uygun yöntem el hijyenidir.Ancak buna karşın, sağlık çalışanları arasındael hijyeni uyum oranı düşüktür. Bu çalışmadabir devlet hastanesinde sağlık çalışanlarıarasında el hijyeni uyum oranlarınındeğerlendirmesi amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmada Ocak- Haziran 2013 tarihleri arasında toplam 112sağlık çalışanında (31 doktor ve 81 hemşire)el hijyen uyum oranı 5 endikasyon gözlemyöntemiyle değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Değerlendirmeye alınan 1,144kişinin 754ü (%65,9) doğru el yıkama veovma ile sonuçlandı. Yoğun bakım ünitesive cerrahi kliniklerde çalışan doktor vehemşireler birlikte değerlendirildiğinde,sırasıyla yoğun bakım ünitelerinde 199kişide el hijyeni uyum oranı %51,26 vecerrahi servislerde ise 591 kişide uyum oranı%66,85 bulundu. Sonuç: Sonuç olarak, gözlemlerin haberliolarak yapılmasının el hijyeni uyumu için iyibir eğitim aracı olduğunu düşünüyoruz.

Öz:

Objective: The most efficientand most cost effective method forpreventing health care associated infectionsis hand hygiene. Although hand hygieneis the most effective and simple method,compliance rates are very low among healthcare workers. It was aimed to evaluate therates of compliance of healthcare workers ina state hospital. Material and Method: In this study, totally112 healthcare workers (31 doctors and 81nurses) were evaluated with the 5-indicationobservation method in a period betweenJanuary and July 2013. Results: A total of 754 (65.9%) out of1.144 cases were resulted in accuratehand washing and hand-rubbing. When theintensive care unit and surgical clinics wereevaluated together, it was found that handhygiene compliance rates were 51.26%in 199 cases and 66.85% in 591 cases fordoctors and nurses, respectively. Conclusion: Consequently, we think that pre- informed observations are important traininginstruments for hand hygiene compliance.
