Aim:Cancer is known as the first cause of death in the worldwide and the second cause in Turkey. İt is caused by 90% genetically and 10% may be due to environmental factors. Therefore it can be prevented when appropriate screening made or ensure improvement in morbidity with early detection. We aimed to evaluate the frequency of cancer in Yozgat and the surrounding region then compared with data based on Turkey's global cancer record. Method: Between the years 2013-2015; registered in the Yozgat Provincial Directorate of Public Health; cancer cases were examined and data were analyzed with SPSS 18 method. Results:A total of 1086 cases of cancer in 2013, 533 cases in 2014 and 357 cases in 2015 have been reported. 39% of the cases were female and 61% of male. The top five cancers seen in 15 years and over in Yozgat region were cancer of bronchus and lung, (12.1%), prostate (9.6%), bladder (8.4%), stomach (24.8%) and skin (7.2%) respectively. The most common cancers in women were skin cancer, breast, thyroid, gastric cancer, colorectal tumors however; lung, prostate, bladder, skin, stomach cancer were common in men. Cancer has been seen most often in the 60-69 age range. The male to female ratio was 1.55. Conclusion:In the context of the national cancer control program, in terms of country data, socio-cultural characteristics, human resources and financial resources must be evaluated one by one; cancer registry system should run properly and should determine which type of cancer is more common in the region, and community should be informed for early diagnosis and effective treatment.
