TÜRK BASININDA 1 MAYIS 2013 ŞİDDET OLAYLARININ ÇERÇEVELENMESİ

Öz:
1 Mayıs İşçi Bayramı kutlamaları 2010 yılından beri Taksim'de gerçekleştirilirken 2013 yılında İstanbul Valiliği, yayalaştırma çalışmaları yapılan bölgedeki inşaatların ve şantiyelerin risk oluşturması gerekçesiyle Taksim'de kutlamalara izin vermedi. Sendikaların Taksim'de kutlama yapmakta ısrar etmeleri üzerine 1 Mayıs İşçi Bayramı'nda polis ve göstericiler arasında şiddet olayları meydana geldi. Yaşanan olaylar ve gerilim, gazetelerin haber seçim ve sunumlarında geniş yer bulurken olayın fâilleri farklı çerçevelenmişti. Bu makale, gazetelerin aynı olguyu anlatmak için tek bir olayda (1 Mayıs gösterileri), olaya neden olma ve fail kim? atıflarını içeren farklı sözcük ve resimleri nasıl sunduğunu çerçeveleme yaklaşımı ekseninde ortaya koymaktadır. Araştırma, Taksim'de yaşanan 2013 yılı 1 Mayıs olayları haberlerinin hangi boyutlarının çerçeveyi oluşturan bilgileri taşıdığını tam olarak ortaya koymayı ve bu şekilde haber metnindeki çerçevelerin doğasını aydınlatmayı amaçlamaktadır. Makale ayrıca metindeki çerçeveler ile habercilerin ve izleyicilerin düşünce biçimleri arasındaki etkileşimler üzerinde de yorumlarda bulunmaktadır. Yapılan araştırmada, Hürriyet Gazetesi'nin 1 Mayıs haberini "polis şiddeti" olarak çerçevelediği, Zaman Gazetesi'nin ise "polis şiddeti" çerçevesiyle "gösterici şiddeti" çerçevesini dengeli olarak kullandığı bulunmuştur

FRAMING OF THE FIRST OF MAY 2013 VIOLENT DEMONSTRATIONS EVENTS IN THE TURKISH PRESS

Öz:
The First of May Workers' Day had been celebrated at the Taksim square since 2010, but the square was not allowed by the Governor for the 2013 celebrations on reasons of risk arising from the ongoing construction work at the site. As the workers' unions persisted to celebrate on the square, the First of May Workers' Day saw violent clashes between the police and the demonstrators. While the events and the tension found wide coverage on the news selection and presentation, the perpetuators of the events were different framed.This study aims to show the differences in presentation of the same event -the First of May events- through a focus on words and pictures referencing perpetrators by a framing percpective. The study aims to demonstrate precisely which dimensions carry the information of the frame thus tries to explore the nature of the frames in the media text. The study also comments on the interactions between the frames in the text and the ways of thoughts of journalists and audiences. The study revealed that the newspaper Hürriyet framed the events of the First of May as "police violence" while the newspaper Zaman used frames of "police violence" and "demonstrator violence" balanced.
