Neuropsychological Effects of Different Types of Epilepsy

Öz:
Although epilepsy is a common chronic disorder in children and adults, remission occur frequently in children. Epilepsy may cause cognitive, social, behavioral, and educational impairments in children. These difficulties have been attributed to multiple variables including underlying neurological conditions, parental reactions, social factors, and the effects of antiepileptic drugs. In addition cognitive and behavioral functions, memory, attention, language and motor skills are differently affected in different types of epilepsy. In this review, neuropsychologcal effects of different types of epilepsy are summarized.
