Öğretmenlerin Kronik Hastalığı Olan Öğrencilere İlişkin Görüşleri

Öz:

Bu çalışma ilk, orta ve lise düzeyindeki okullarda görev yapan öğretmenlerin kronik hastalıklar ve öğrencilerinin kronik hastalığı hakkında görüşlerini ortaya koymak amacıyla tanımlayıcı bir araştırma olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırma örneklemini ise araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 55 öğretmen oluşturmuştur. Veriler araştırmacılar tarafından literatüre dayalı olarak oluşturulan 21 soruluk “Öğretmenlerin Kronik Hastalığı Olan Öğrencilere İlişkin Görüşleri” anket formu ile Mart – Mayıs 2015 tarihleri arasında araştırmacılar tarafından toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde SPSS 20 paket programı kullanılmış, verilerin analizinde sayı ve yüzdeliklerden yararlanılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin %89’unun kronik hastalığı süreğen geçmeyen hastalık olarak tanımladığı, %61,9’unun kronik hastalığı olan öğrenciyi bildiği, %29’unun kronik hastalığı olan öğrenciyi ebeveynden öğrendiği, %83,6’sının kronik hastalığı olan öğrencilerde sorumluluğunun olduğunu, %76,4’ünün kronik hastalıkla ilgili acil bir durum geliştiğinde müdahale edemediğini, %80’inin kronik hastalıklar ve acil durumlarda müdahale ile ilgili bir eğitime ihtiyaç duyduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğretmenlerin %94,5’i okullarda okul sağlığı hemşiresine ihtiyaç olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. Bu araştırmada ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan öğretmenlerin çoğunluğunun okul ortamında öğrencilerin kronik hastalığı ile ilgili bir sorun geliştiğinde müdahale edemediğini ve bu durumlarda müdahale edebilmek için eğitime ihtiyaç duydukları saptanmıştır. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda, okullarda okul sağlığı hemşiresi olmaması nedeniyle okulda gelişen acil durum ve hastalık durumunda doğru müdahalenin yapılabilmesi için öğretmenlere çocukluk çağı kronik hastalıkları ile ilgili eğitimlerin verilmesinin gerekliliği önem arz etmektedir.

Teacher’s Opinion Related to Students with Chronic Illness

Öz:

This study was carried out as a descriptive study aiming to reveal the opinions of primary, secondary and high school teachers about chronic illnesses and their students’ chronic diseases. The research sample consisted of 55 teachers who agreed to participate in the research. The data were collected between March - May 2015 with the "Teacher’s Opinion Related to Students with Chronic Illness" questionnaire by the researchers. The SPSS 20 package program was used in the evaluation of the data, numerical and percentages were used in the analysis of data. It was found that 89.9% of the teachers identified chronic illness as non-persistent illness, 61.9% knew the student with chronic illness, 29% learned from the parent, 83.6% had responsility on the students with chronic illness, 76.4% of them could not intervene when an emergency related to the disease developed, and 80% needed an education related to chronic diseases and emergency intervention. 94.5% of the teachers stated that they need school health nurses in schools. In this study, it was determined that most of the teachers working in primary schools could not intervene when students had a problem with their chronic illness in the school environment and that they needed training to intervene in these situations. In the light of these results, it is important that the teachers should be educated about childhood chronic diseases so that correct intervention can be made in the case of emergency and illness in school because there is no school health nurses in schools.
