TY - JOUR TI - THE NETWORK ANALYSIS OF THE DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL AIR TRANSPORTATION STRUCTURE OF TURKEY AB - Consideringtheeffectivenessofairtransportation,theinvestigationofthedynamicsofflightroutesarehavingagreatattention,lately.Evenseveralstudiesareconductedinaglobalscale,somehubsarerequiredmoreconsiderationinintercityandinter-countrytransportation.Accordingtothestudyof[SongandYeo],İstanbullocatedinTurkeyhasthemaximumdegreecentralityamong1.060airportsandmaximumbetweennesscentralityamongthetop30airports.Inthisstudy,weaimtoseetheairtransportationnetworkstructuredeeplyforthiscountrydependingonitstopographiccharacteristics.Forthispurpose,socialnetworkanalysisisusedasananalysismethodandvisualizationtoolstodescribethecorrelationstructureofthedata.Thus,weillustratesomeofthenetwork-levelandnode-levelmetricsinaforementionedanalysisbyexploringrouteconnectionsamongairports.Additionally,thenetworkmapsaredepictedtobetterunderstandtheairroutesstructure.TheresultsindicatethatİstanbulhasahugeimpactamongairportsintermsofbothdomesticandinternationaltransportationdependingontheempiricaldataofTurkeyfortheyearof2014.Classifyingbycountries,GermanyandCyprushasthelargestconnectionmeasurementresultswithTurkey.
