A Study on Qurʾān Manuscripts in the Vatican Library in terms of Physical and Content Features

Öz:
The history of the Qurʾānic text begins with the time of its re e ation. The research on Qurʾānic manuscripts is one of the main fie ds of textua studies of the Qurʾān. There ha e been many works done by both Muslim and Western scholars. Many museums and libraries around the wor d ho d Qurʾān manuscripts. ach manuscript has its own characteristics such as orthography, calligraphy, decoration, and binding, number of the pages and the lines, and dating. This artic e dea s with 110 Qurʾān manuscripts found in the Vatican Library (Biblioteca Apostalica Vaticana) at the Vaticani arabi, Borgiani arabi, Barberiniani orientali and Rossiani Co ections. The dates of these Qurʾān manuscripts ary from I/VII (?) and XIII/XIX centuries. The artic e aims to identify the features of Qurʾānic writing by studying chrono ogica y some basic physical-content descriptions and characteristics of these manuscripts. It also examines the different names of the sūrahs and the now edge on Meccan or Medinan sūrahs presented on the sūrah headings of manuscripts.

Vatikan Kütüphanesi’ndeki Kur’ân Elyazmaları Üzerine Biçim ve İçerik Açısından Bir Araştırma

Öz:
Kur’ân metninin ya ım tarihi, ahyin n u d nemiy e baş ama tadır. Kur’ân tarihi araştırma a an arından biri o an e ya ması Kur’ân n sha arı, M s man e Batı ı araştırmacı arın i gisini çe miştir. Birço m e et phanede e ya ması Kur’ân n sha arı mevcuttur. Her bir n shanın im âe i eri, hattı, te yini, ci di, arae satır sayısı, ait o duğu yı gibi far ı ara teristiği bu unma tadır. Bu ma a e Vati an K t phanesi’nin Vaticani arabi, Borgiani arabi, Barberiniani orientali ve Rossiani Koleksiyon arında bu unan 110 adet Kur’ân e ya masıerine yapı mış bir araştırmadır. Bu e ya ma arının tarih eri, I/VII. y yı (?) i e XIII/XIX. y yı ar arasında değişme tedir. Ça ışmamı , bu ya ma arın ba ı temel fiziksel ve muhteva özelliklerini kronolojik o ara e e a mayı e tarih boyunca Kur’ân metninin ya ıme i erini tespit etmeyi amaç ama tadır. Ma a ede Kur’ân ya ma arının sûre baş ı arında yer a an far ı sûre isim eri e sûre erin Me î eya Medenî o masına dair bi gi er de ince enmiştir.
