Neurotoxoplasmosis in a Patient with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome: Magnetic Resonance and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Findings
Öz: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and acquiredimmunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is an important publichealth problem. In recent years, opportunistic infectionsthat can develop in patients with AIDS are rapidly diagnosedby imaging modalities. A 31-year-old HIV-positive malepatient presented with fever, headache and progressivebilateral muscle weakness. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)revealed multiple mass lesions with peripheral edema. In MRspectroscopy (S), lactate-lipid peak was detected. Hemorrhagictransformation was observed in some lesions in control brainMRI. Here, we aimed to present MRI and MRS findings of apatient with neurotoxoplasmosis and to demonstrate thathemorrhagic transformation may develop during follow-upand treatment.

Edinsel İmmün Yetersizlik Sendromlu Hastada Nörotoksoplazmozis: Manyetik Rezonans ve Manyetik Rezonans Spektroskopi Bulguları
Öz: İnsan immün yetmezlik virüsü (HİV) enfeksiyonu ve edinsel immün yetmezlik sendromu (AIDS) önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. Son yıllarda, edinsel immün yetersizlik sendromlu hastalarda gelişebilen fırsatçı enfeksiyonlar, görüntüleme ile hızlı bir şekilde tanı almaktadır. Otuz bir yaşında bir HİV-pozitif hasta; ateş, baş ağrısı ve ilerleyen iki taraflı kas güçsüzlüğü ile başvurdu. Manyetik rezonans görüntülemede (MRG) ödemi de bulunan çok sayıda kitle lezyonu izlendi. Lezyonların MR spektroskopisinde (S), laktat ve lipit piki tespit edildi. Kontrol beyin MRG’de bazı lezyonlarda hemorajik transformasyon gözlendi. Bu yazıda, bir nörotoksoplazmozis hastasının MR ve MRS görüntüleme bulgularını sunmak ve takip-tedavi sırasında hemorajik transformasyonun gelişebileceğini göstermek istedik.
