TY - JOUR TI - An analysis on factors affecting back awareness of postmenopausal women with chronic low back pain AB - Purpose: Back awareness, which related with interoceptive and proprioceptive systems, is very important for postmenopausalwomen with chronic low back pain. The of this study was to show the relationship between back awareness and kinesiophobialevel, pain, disability and, body awareness in postmenopausal women with chronic low back pain.Methods: One hundred and eighty-five women (with a mean age of 58.3±8.53 years) with chronic low back pain in thepostmenopausal period were included in the study. The Fremantle Back Awareness Questionnaire was used to evaluate backspecific body perception (back awareness). The Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia-11, Visual Analogue Scale, The Roland MorrisDisability Questionnaire, and The Body Awareness Questionnaire were also used.Results: Sixty one percent of the women reported chronic low back pain at least last year. There were weak correlations betweenFremantle Back Awareness Questionnaire total score and kinesiophobia level (r=0.193; p=0.009), pain intensity (r=0.352;p=0.001), pain duration (r=0.191; p=0.009) and disability (r=0.394; p=0.001). There was no correlation between FremantleBack Awareness Questionnaire total score and body awareness level (r=0.033; p=0.654).Conclusion: According to the results of this study, the back-specific body perception associated with kinesiophobia, pain, anddisability. In this respect, the study reveals the importance of the concept of back awareness, which expresses the level ofperception of changes in the back region.
