TY - JOUR TI - Use Of Rewards In Special and General Education: Focus Group Interviews AB - This study aimed to examine of special education and general educationteachers’ views and practices on the use of rewards in the teaching process.In this qualitative research two different focus group interviews were heldwith two groups of teachers respectively: 13 special education and 13general education teachers. These teachers were posed questions related tothe methods they used to increase terminal behaviors and decrease undesiredbehaviors, whether the methods they used for special education studentsdiffered, the frequency of using rewards, reasons behind use of rewardsby teachers in different ways and how the use of rewards were addressedduring their university/formation trainings and trainee program. Datawere analyzed via content analysis technique. Results show that there aredifferences between these two groups in terms of rewards use and the cause ofthese differences were based on the trainings teachers had received.
