TY - JOUR TI - Effect of simulation on the development of cognitive skills of the first aid and emergency aid students in neonatal resuscitation AB - Purpose: This study was conducted to search the effect ofsimulation on the development of cognitive skills of thefirst aid and emergency students in neonatal resuscitation.Materials and Methods: The study, which was plannedas a randomized controlled, experimental study, wasperformed between with 60 students studying in thesecond year of First Aid and Emergency Programme. Thestudents were divided into two groups as experimental andcontrol groups. Prior to the study, the students wereprovided with an information form and the Scale ofProblem Solving Inventory (PSI) and the NeonatalResuscitation Knowledge Exam were conducted on bothof the groups to determine the individual characteristics ofthe students. The students in the experimental group weretrained with the “Scenario-Based Simulation Application”while the control group was given a theoretical lecture on“Neonatal Resuscitation” by the researcher. After twoweeks, the final tests were applied to both groups.Result: The averages of the student grades from theNeonatal Resuscitation examination after the trainingrevealed a difference between the groups and thatsimulation group got higher grades, and the averages of thestudent groups from the PSI determined that the totalgrade averages of trust, personal control and total scorewere significantly different. Conclusion: The use of simulation in the neonatalresuscitation training of the First Aid and Emergencystudents is effective and it increases the knowledge scoreaverages and problem-solving skills of the student AU - Kose, Selmin AU - Kanbur, Bahar Nur AU - GÖKTAŞ, Sonay Baltacı AU - DOĞAN, Pınar DO - 10.17826/cumj.640275 PY - 2020 JO - Cukurova Medical Journal VL - 45 IS - 2 SN - 2602-3032 SP - 574 EP - 580 DB - TRDizin UR - http://search/yayin/detay/385304 ER -
