TI  - THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TRADE AND ECONOMIC GROWTH: THE CASE OF AFGHANISTAN
AB  - The impact of foreign trade on economic growth is both theoretically discussed and empiricallyinvestigated by economists. In this study, the relationship between foreign trade and economicgrowth for Afghanistan in the period between 1980 and 2017 was examined. For this purpose,cointegration and causality tests were conducted. As a result of Johansen cointegration test,cointegration relationship was determined between the variables. According to the results of theapplied Granger causality test to determine the direction and existence of the relationship betweenvariables, a two-way causality relationship was determined from export to economic growth and fromeconomic growth to export. In addition, while there is a one-way causality relationship from importsto economic growth, no causality relationship between imports and exports has been achieved.
