Undergraduate Students’ Perceptions Regarding the Environment: Discuss, Draw, and Write Down

Öz:
This study aims to present senior undergraduate students’ perceptionsregarding their desired living environment. Following an electivecourse program, students were asked ‚Could you draw a picture inwhich you would like to live and explain why?‛ The research wasbased on qualitative technique; briefly called in literature discuss,draw, and write down. Participation in this study was voluntary. Thisresearch project was conducted at a university located in the Black Searegion. The data were analyzed based on content analysis techniquewith a theoretical framework. While analyzing drawings, participants’essays were also used. Codes and themes were created after thedrawings were done. Based on findings, it can be said that participantsaccepted the borders between wealthy and relatively poorneighborhoods; preferred to have shopping malls for security andsocializing, and drew quite limited living organisms.

Lisans Öğrencilerinin Çevre Algıları Üzerine: Tartış, Çiz ve Yaz

Öz:
Bu çalışma lisans öğrencilerinin yaşamak istedikleri çevre algılarını belirlemek amacı ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmada katılımcılara, ‚nasıl bir çevrede yaşamak istedikleri ve neden bu çevreyi tercih ettikleri‛ sorulmuştur. Çalışma, nitel araştırma modeline dayalı olup ‚tartış, çiz ve yaz‛ tekniği kullanılmıştır. Katılım gönüllük ilkesine bağlı olarak sağlanmıştır. Araştırma, Karadeniz bölgesinde bir üniversitede seçmeli ders kapsamında yürütülmüş olup, veriler içerik analiz tekniği kullanılarak teorik çerçeve dahilinde analiz edilmiştir. Katılımcıların çizimleri analiz edilirken aynı zamanda yazdıkları dokümanlardan da yararlanılmıştır. Kodlar ve temalar, çizimler bittikten sonra oluşturulmuştur. Bulgulara dayanarak katılımcıların zengin ve daha yoksul semtler arasındaki keskin sınır kabul ettikleri; AVM’leri güvenlik ve sosyalleşme adına tercih ederken, canlı figürlerine çok da yer vermedikleri tespit edilmiştir.
