TY - JOUR TI - Is Online Pregnant School Training Effective in Reducing the Anxiety of Pregnant Women and Their Partners During the COVID-19 Pandemic? AB - Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the views ofpregnant women and their spouses on the coronavirus disease-19(COVID-19) pandemic process, to support pregnant women andtheir spouses through online pregnancy school training, and todecrease their anxiety levels.Methods: The universe of this semi-experimental study withpre-and post-training model consisted of all pregnant womenpresenting at the pregnancy monitoring service of an Obstetricsand Pediatrics Training and Research Hospital in the Anatolian sideof Istanbul between April and May 2020. 90 people (45 pregnantwomen and 45 spouses) who met inclusion criteria were includedin the study. Data were collected using a questionnaire includingthe demographic of the participants as well as their views on theCOVID-19 process and the Beck Anxiety Inventory. Study datawere evaluated using percentages, mean values, the chi-square test,and one-way ANOVA.Results: In the study, the anxiety scores in both groups were foundto decrease (the pre-education score of the mothers is 9.05±7.29 andthe post-education score is 5.56±5.38, the pre-education score ofthe fathers is 3.13±3.60 and the post-education score is 2.02±2.49)significantly after training (p<0.05).Conclusion: Online pregnancy school for pregnant women andtheir spouses during the COVID-19 pandemic period was effectivein reducing the anxiety levels of the parents.
