TY - JOUR TI - Relationship between family support and quality of life in individuals with diabetes AB - Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationshipbetween family support and quality of life in individualswith diabetes.Materials and Methods: The universe of the studyconsisted of individuals receiving treatment in theEndocrinology Clinic of Balıkesir State Hospital. On theother hand, the sample of the study was made up of 260individuals with diabetes who met the inclusion criteriaand volunteered to participate in the study. Data collectionforms included a questionnaire form, Hensarling'sDiabetes Family Support Scale, and the Diabetes-SpecificQuality of Life Scale.Results: A statistically significant relationship was foundbetween the family status score, which is the subdimension of the Quality of Life Scale, and the total scoreof Hensarling’s Diabetes Family Support Scale and its subdimension scores. As the family status score increased, thetotal score of the Hensarling’s Diabetes Family SupportScale increased as well. There was no statisticallysignificant relationship between the scores of othersubscales.Conclusion: As the score of the family status subscale ofthe Quality of Life Scale of the individuals with diabetesincreased, the total score of the Family Support Scale andits subscales increased as well.
