Evaluation of Sports Education at Higher Education Level in the Scope of Total Quality Management

Öz:
The aim ofthis study is to determine the satisfaction levels of the students gettingeducated about sports at the higher education level regarding their facultieswithin the scope of total quality management. Thesample was selected from the students of Physical Education and SportsTeaching, Sports Management, Coaching Education and Recreation Departments ofEskişehir Technical University by using simple random sampling methodology. Ascreening model was used within the scope of the study, which included a totalof n=150 students, of which n=51 (34%) were female and n=99 (66%) were male.In the study where data was collected using the survey technique,Student Satisfaction Questionnaire prepared by the Education Research andDevelopment Department of the Turkish Ministry of National Education was usedafter being adapted to the higher education institutions. The data obtainedthrough the questionnaire were transferred to a computer and analysed with SPSS20.0 package program. Percentage/frequency analysis technique was used for dataanalysis. According to the results of theresearch, it was determined that the students could benefit from the sportshall and university facilities at a sufficient level and they could easily meetthe instructors when they needed. At the same time, the students stated thatefforts were made to solve the problems they conveyed to their instructors andthat the instructors were reliable people. In addition, it was determined thattheir opinions were not taken when making decisions about the students in thefaculty. As a result of the research, it was determined that the threetopics that the students of the sports sciences faculty were most satisfiedwith in the faculties they studied in the context of total quality managementwere education and training activities, accessibility and communication andsecurity, respectively. In addition, the lowest level of satisfaction ofstudents within the scope of total quality management is participation indecisions and student affairs. Additionally, the satisfaction levels of sportsscience students in the context of total quality management were found to be ata moderate level.
