TY - JOUR TI - Bibliometric Analysis of the Research on (in)equality of Opportunities in Education AB - In this study, it is aimed to systematically examine the developmentof publications on (in)equality of opportunity in education, overtime. The metadata obtained from the Web of Science database wasanalyzed using bibliometric methods in order to see the change ofpublications between 1974 and 2020 over time. VOSviewer is usedas popular visualization tools to process bibliographic data. 505articles in the Web of Science (WoS) database were examined andthe most cited articles, the most influential publications, andauthors were determined, in addition to the distribution of thenumber of publications and citations by years. Co-authorshipanalysis was carried out to establish a visual map of the cooperationnetwork in the field, and collaborations between authors, countries,and institutions were tried to be determined. In addition, in orderto reveal the intellectual structure of the field, co-citation analysiswas applied and the dominant writers and publications were triedto be determined. According to the results obtained, the number ofpublications and citations on (in)equality of opportunity ineducation has increased significantly over the years. However, therelationship between the authors, institutions, and countriesappears to be weak in the field. Cooperation between authors andinstitutions is very weak, and most of the collaborating institutionsare located in the USA. As a result of this research, since theresearches in the field are conducted independently, it reveals thatthe publications about the (in)equality of opportunity in educationwill be made more comprehensive and in cooperation in the future.
