Öz:

Giriş: Ülkemizde yetişkinler üzerinde yapılan antropometrik araştırmaların çok sınırlı olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu araştırma, yaş ve cinsiyetler arasında boy ve oturma yüksekliği açısından erişkin bireylerde nasıl bir değişimin olduğunu ortaya koymak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Hastalar ve Yöntem: Ankara’da yaşayan orta ve üst sosyoekonomik düzeye mensup toplam 1422 yetişkin (610 kadın ve 812 erkek) birey rastgele örneklem yöntemiyle kesitsel olarak incelenmiştir. Boy ve oturma yüksekliği antropometrik değişkenleri International Biological Programme (IBP)’ın öngördüğü teknikler doğrultusunda ölçülmüştür. Elde edilen antropometrik ölçümler LMS metodu yardımıyla yaşa ve cinsiyete göre yüzdelik eğrileri (persentilleri) oluşturulmuştur. Bulgular: Araştırma bulgularımıza göre boy ve oturma yüksekliği değerlerinde erkeklerin tüm yaş aralıklarında kadınlara göre daha büyük değerler gösterdiği saptanmıştır. Boy ve oturma yüksekliğinin her iki cinsiyette yaş ile birlikte azaldığı gözlenmiştir. Sonuç: Bu bulgularla birlikte insanın hayat döngüsü boyunca vücut oranlarının aynı kalmadığı, sürekli değişim içerisinde olduğu ve bu değişimler önceden bilinirse insanın sağlığının korunması ve gerekli önlemlerin alınmasının sağlanabileceği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Changings on body stature and sitting height values with aging

Öz:

Background: There are few studies on anthropometry and adult people in our country. In this study, we aim to reach the differentiation amongst adult people in respect of height and sitting height. Patients and Methods: This was a population-based, cross-sectional study. A total of 1422 adult persons (610 female, 812 male; age range, 18-90 y) who are from middle and upper socioeconomic classes were selected randomly in the city of Ankara (Turkey). Following the International Biological programme (IBP), height and sitting height anthropometric measurements were taken. Collected data were grouped by gender and age and all centiles constructed with the help of LMS methods. Results: In accordance with the findings of this study men were significantly taller than women in all age groups. Besides it was seen that height and sitting height anthropometric variables decrease correspondingly with aging in men and women. Conclusions: These observations indicated that human body proportion chances during life span and if we realize these changes we can have the necessary steps to save and provide continuity to human health.
