TY - JOUR TI - Erupted Odontoma: A Report of Three Cases and A Review ofthe Literature AB - Odontomas are most common benign odontogenic tumorscomposed of enamel, dentine, cement, and pulp tissue. Theeruption of an odontoma is extremely rare. It may be associated withsome complications such as pain, inflammation of the adjacent softtissues and delayed eruption of permanent teeth. In this report,clinical and radiographic findings of three erupted odontoma casesand a review of the literature are presented. Three of our patientswere male and the oldest was 80 years old. Two of the patients weresymptomatic and one was asymptomatic. Panoramic radiographsand cone-beam computed tomography images were obtained. Inthe literature review, we reached 66 papers published between 1989and 2020, with a total of 74 cases presented. An erupted odontomamay be associated with pain, inflammation of the adjacent softtissues, and delayed eruption of permanent teeth. Dentists shouldpay attention to erupted odontoma because of these seriouscomplications.
