TY - JOUR TI - THE INVESTIGATION OF LEVELS OF PRESERVICE MATHEMATICS TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS OF REALIZATION OF THEIR TEACHER PROFILES PERCEIVED WITHIN THE SCOPE OF TEACHING PRACTICE COURSE AB - The process of being preservice teacher is an emotional and interpersonal difficult experience that every teacher acquires before starting career. At this stage, the perceptions of preservice teachers that they have observed and created in their minds through their experiences and perceptions that they will acquire as part of teaching practice course are very important and will reflect on their future careers. Therefore, the aim of study is to examine levels of preservice mathematics teachers’ realization of teacher profiles that they have perceived in their minds within the teacher practice course. In the study, the participants are 11 preservice mathematics teachers participating trainings of teacher practice in same state secondary school in Sakarya, but in different semesters in 2017-2019. The study was designed as a case study which was one of qualitative research methods and data were obtained through “Assessment Form of Teaching Perception” and “Preservice Teacher Assessment Form of Mentor Teacher”. The data obtained were evaluated by content analysis method. According to the findings obtained from assessment form of teaching perception in study, teacher profile of preservice teachers is mostly; is that it should be a loved one, has sufficient professional knowledge, motivation and ability to enrich learning environments as well as benefiting students. It has been concluded that preservice teachers tried to display a teacher profile close to the perception of teacher they created in their minds in the teaching practice lesson. Especially, it was observed that preservice teachers had some difficulties in classroom management while they were successful in planning, lesson preparation, using teaching methods and communication categories. The data obtained have showed that preservice teachers were affected by teacher roles they observed until process of becoming teachers and they developed a role model teaching perception.
