A Model Suggestion for Teaching Evolution: Developing Cladogram, Line Model and Hand Model

Öz:
The purpose of this article is to propose a credible teaching method for the theory of evolution. Cladogram activity is a model used often in biological sciences, especially in evolotuion laboratories. In cladogram activities, students will have an opportunity to understand the similarities and differences among characteristics of living things. Thereby they betterwill perceive the concept of biological diversity and evolution. By using the line model and especially the hand model the students will be given the opportunity to understand basic processes of evolotuion, and also to correct their preconception that members of a species have evolved directly from those of other species and to replace it with the scientific knowledge that populations have evolved over time. In this study, the activities that embrace inquiry-based and student-centered atmosphere are presented in the frame of constructivism.
