Saponins and their biological ımportance

Öz:
Saponins which are found in many plants are glycosides containing either a steroid or triterpenoid nucleus and one or more side chain of carbohydrates. In this review, chemical structure and properties of saponins and their effects on ruminal microflora, lipid metabolism, performance and immunity in various animal species are disscussed.
