Pediatrik palyatif bakım ve hemşirelik
Öz: Avrupa'da kanser mortalitesi ve morbiditesinde artış olduğu görülmektedir. Ancak son yıllarda tıp ve teknolojideki gelişmeler kanserli çocukların yaşam sürelerini uzatmıştır. Kanser insidansı ve kanserli çocukların yaşam süresindeki bu artış palyatif bakıma olan gereksinimi arttırmıştır. Palyatif bakım "Tedaviye yanıt vermeyen hastalığı olan hastaların tüm bakımıdır. Ağrı ve diğer semptomların yanı sıra, sosyal, psikolojik ve manevi problemlerin kontrolü önemlidir. Palyatif bakımın amacı, hasta ve ailesinin olabilecek en iyi yaşam kalitesini sağlamaktır. Palyatif bakım hastalık tanısı konulduğunda başlar ve çocuğun tedavi alıp almadığına bakılmaksızın devam eder. Palyatif bakım ölümü normal bir süreç gibi kabul ederek yaşamı destekler. Ölümü ne çabuklaştırır ne de geciktirmeye çalışır. Palyatif bakım acıların hafifletilmesini ve semptom kontrolünü sağlar. Etkili palyatif bakım hasta ve aileye odaklı, toplumdaki kaynakların kullanımım sağlayan bir multi disipliner yaklaşımı içerir.

Öz: It is seen that cancer incidence and mortality in Europe is increasing. Cancer children are living longer than in the past because of the developing in medicine and techonology. Palliative care is the active total care of patients whose disease is not responsive to curative treatment. Control of pain, of other symptoms, and of psychological, social, and spiritual problems is paramount. The goal of palliative care is the achievement of the best quality of life for patients and their families. Palliative care begins when illness is diagnosed, and continues regardless of whether or not achild receives treatment directed at the disease. It affirms life and regards dying as a normal process; neither hastens nor postpones death, provides relief from pain and other distressing symptoms; integrates the psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care. Effective palliative care requires a broad multidisciplinary approach that includes the family and makes use of available community resources;
