Kocaeli'de toxoplasmosis ve kistik ekinokokkozis insidansı

Öz:

Çalışmamızda Kocaeli'de yerleşik sağlıklı, toxoplasmosis ve kistik ekinokokkozis (KE) şüphesi olmayan kesitsel tanımlayıcı çalışma tipiyle tesadüfi olarak seçilmiş 388 lise öğrencilerinde toxoplasmosis ve KE insidansının saptanması amaçlanmıştır. Toplanan serum örnekleri toxoplasmosis ve KE yönünden ELISA ile değerlendirilmiştir. Altmışbir (%18) kişide toxoplasmosis serolojisi pozitif bulunmuştur. Bunların %90'ında çiğ et yeme alışkanlığı, %81,7'sinde ise kedi ile yakın temas öyküsünün olduğu görülmüştür. Çiğ et yeme alışkanlığı olan kızlarla pozitif toxoplasmosis seroloji sonuçları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur (p<0.05). KE ise 30 (%8,9) kişide seropozitif saptanmıştır. Bunların %80'inde eozinofili gözlenmiş ve eozinofili ile KE arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır (p<0.05). KE köpekle yakın teması olanların %56'sında seropozitif bulunmuştur. Köpekle yakın teması olan erkeklerle pozitif KE sonuçları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir (p<0.05). Seroloji sonuçları yüksek titrasyonda (1/2500) tespit edilen iki öğrenciye radyolojik tetkikler önerilmiş, bir kişi yaptırmış ve USG ile karaciğerde 4 cm çaplı bir kist olduğu saptanmıştır. Seroepidemiyolojik çalışmalarla paraziter hastalıkların gerçek insidansının tespit edilerek, o bölgelerdeki problemlere çözümler getirilmesinin ve halkın özellikle öğrencilerin paraziter hastalıkların bulaş yolları ve korunma önlemleri hakkında bilgilendirilmesinin son derece önemli olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.

Determination of the incidence of toxoplasmosis and cystic echinococcosis in Kocaeli

Öz:

We determined the incidence of toxoplasmosis and cystic echinococcosis (CE) in 388 healthy high school students who reside in Kocaeli region and were not previously diagnosed as toxoplasmosis and CE positive. The collected serum samples were tested with ELISA for the presence of toxoplasmosis and CE. Toxoplasmosis serology was positive at 61 people (18%). Among them, 90% had the raw meat consumption habit and 81.7% had the history of close contact with cats. There was a statistically positive correlation between the raw-meat-consuming females and toxoplasmosis seropositivity (p<0.05). The serology of CE was positive in 30 (8.9%) samples. Eighty percent of these, eozinophili was detected and a positive correlation was observed with CE (p<0.05). Also, a positive relationship was detected between CE and males who had close contact with dogs (p<0.05). Two students who were serologically positive with high titrations and one of them had the ultrasound test. A cyst with a diameter of 4-cm was observed in his liver. The results of this study led us conclude that the real incidence of the parasitic diseases and the endemic sites should be determined with seroepidemiological studies and the citizens, especially students should be informed about the contagion ways and precautions.
