Gençler, Üreme ve Cinsel Haklar: Okulların Önemi ve Öğretmenlerin Rolü

Öz:

Genç insanlar (10-24 yaş grubu) Türkiye’de nüfusun yaklaşık %23’ü kadar büyük bir bölümünü oluşturmaktadır. Adolesan dönem fizyolojik ve ruhsal olarak üreme ve cinsel büyüme ve gelişmeyle bedeni tanıma ve yeni değişimlere uyum sağlama dönemidir. Gençlerin cinsel sağlık ve üreme sağlığı gelişimleri sırasında, uyum sağlayabilmeleri için gerekli bilgilendirmenin yapılmaması, riskler konusunda farkındalıklarının olmaması ve gençlere uygun sağlık hizmetlerinin sunulmaması, hem üreme ve cinsel sağlık sorunlarının ortaya çıkmasına hem de hastalıklara bağlı yaşam kalitesinin düşmesi hatta yaşamın kaybına neden olabilmektedir. Bu anlamda gençlerin cinsel haklar ve üreme haklarını bilmesi, genel olarak sağlığın korunması ve geliştirilmesi için önemli ön koşullardan birisidir. Kapsamlı cinsel sağlık ve üreme sağlığı eğitimi, gençlerin haklarını öğrenmeleri, hizmet talep etmeleri ve güvenli sağlık davranışları için gereklidir. Okullar, gençlere kapsamlı cinsel sağlık ve üreme sağlığı eğitiminin sağlanması için en uygun ortamlardır. Öğretmenler ise gençlerin cinsel ve üreme sağlığı ve haklarını bilmelerinin yanı sıra, gençlerin haklarının farkında olmasını sağlayabilecek kilit kişilerdir.

Youths, Reproductive and Sexual Rights: The Importance of Schools and the Role of Teachers

Öz:

Young people (10-24 age group) constitute a large portion of the population in Turkey, approximately 23 Adolescence is the period of physiological and psychological reproduction and sexual growth and development, to get to know the body and to adapt to new chan- ges.During the development of sexual and reproductive health of young people, not providing the necessary information to adapt, not having awareness of the risks and not providing appropriate health services to young people may cause reproductive and sexual health problems as well as a decrease in the quality of life due to disea- ses and even loss of life. In this sense, youth’s knowledge of sexual and reproductive rights is one of the important preconditions for the protection and improvement of health in general. Comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education is necessary for young pe- ople to learn about their rights, demand services and safe health be- haviors. Schools are also the most suitable settings for the provision of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education to young people. Teachers are also key people who can make young people aware of their sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as make young people aware of their rights.
