Dialogic Reading: Its Effectiveness on Receptive and Expressive Language of Children in Need of Protection

Öz:
Bu araştırma, gelişimleri çevresel nedenlerle risk altında olan 4-5 yaş grubu korunmaya muhtaç çocukların alıcı ve ifade edici dil becerileri üzerinde küçük grup uygulamalarına dayalı "etkileşimli kitap okuma programının" etkililiğinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Ön test- uygulama ve son test aşamalarından oluşan araştırmanın çalışma grubunda Denver Gelişimsel Tarama Testi II sonuçlarına göre gelişimlerinin normal gelişimden farklılaştığı belirlenen ve bir çocuk yuvası ve kız yetiştirme yurdu'nda kalan 4-5 yaş arası 4'ü kız 5'i erkek toplam 9 çocuk yer almıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar, uygulanan etkileşimli kitap okuma programının çalışma grubunda yer alan çocukların farklı sözcük sayıları üzerinde etkili olduğunu göstermiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar alanyazında bildirilen bulgular temelinde tartışılmıştır

Öz:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the "Dialogic Book Reading Program (DBRP)" on the receptive and expressive language skills of 4-5- year-old children who were in need of protection. The study included nine children (4 girls and 5 boys) living in an orphanage and who were identified as developmentally delayed based on the results of Denver Developmental Screening Test II. Children's language skills were pre- and post tested. Results showed that DBRP was effective to improve expressive language skills (number of different words) of participating children. Findings were discussed based on the results of previous research
