Self objectification theory conceptualizes the psychological problems that are caused by living in a society that normalizes the sexual objectification of women's bodies. Recently studies have started to focus upon self objectification's enviromental antecedents. System justification theory, as proposed by social psychologists, can be seen as a helpful device to understand and study self objectification from a broader perception. This review aims to summarize self objectification theory and its possible connection to the system justification, in light of the relevant literature.
