Today nursing profession has affected by many sizes especially at nursing care with scientifictechnological changes and developments. Occupational functions and roles also varies because of the social and environmental structures and health policies constantly change. A variety of diagnostic and treatment methods in the implementation, nursing care has become diverse and complex. The development of new methods of care based on scientific basis and the implementation of them, led to widening of the profession’s role and functions. The independent role and functions of the nursing profession also increased with increasing authority and responsibility are supported by scientific sources. These roles make a significant contribution to the development and professionalization of the nursing. In this complation, the global trends which are affecting nursing profession and roles that are affected by changes in health care services will be examined. It is aimed to put forward the evolving roles of the reforming nursing profession and the importance of profession.
