Öz:

Bu çalışmada Gelibolu Yarımadası'nın Saros Körfezi ve Çanakkale Boğazı her iki kıyısındaki yalıtaşları ele alınmış ve bu genç oluşukların fiziksel özellikleri tanıtılarak gelişimleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Unsur içerik ve boyutları, bağlayıcı madde, yükselti, tabakalaşma gibi özellikleri ile oluştukları eski deniz seviyesi gibi özellikleri ele alınan yalıtaşlarının bölgenin aktif tektoniğinden kaynaklanabilecek yapısal unsurlara sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Yalıtaşlarının Gelibolu Yarımadasındaki kubbeleşme ve yarımadanın her iki yanındaki çökme rejimlerinden etkilendiği anlaşılmış, ayrıca oluşum senaryoları üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu konuda en ilgi çekici olan Kumlimanı lokalitesinde çalışılan yalıtaşı zonunun eski bir kıyı okunun yalıtaşı konumuna geçmesidir. Ayrıca özellikle boğaz kıyısındaki yalıtaşlarının içerdiği yabancı çakıllar günümüz akıntı şartlarına aykırı oluşumlar olarak dikkat çekmekte, bu durumda kuzeydoğuya doğru yönelen eski bir akıntı sistemi ortaya çıkmaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda yalıtaşlarının, Çanakkale Boğazı'ndaki denizel taraçalarm yaşlandırma sonuçlarına dayanarak günümüzden 3660±157 yıl öncesinde oluşmaya başladıkları ortaya çıkmaktadır.

Öz:

Beachrock formation developed at two different localities at the coasts of Gelibolu Peninsula. Geomorphological, geological, and tectonic properties of the coastal area have been considered in this study. All beachrock localities have been investigated in detail considering their material types, sequences, structures and depositional localities. It was concluded that the beachrocks observed in a distance of 8 to 15 meters from the present shoreline were found under the present sea and they have been tectonically uplifted. Sea level changes and tectonic activity of the coastal area have been explained owing to the properties of these young formations.
